All Africa Mixed Team Championship 2021

2021 saw 2futures as the sponsor of two brilliant badminton players at the All Africa Championships 2021 in Uganda.

Melvin Appiah, aged 22, is currently ranked 3rd in the Badminton National Team and Vilina Appiah, aged 18, is ranked 4th in the female Badminton National Team. As siblings, the pair has been living and breathing badminton since childhood, playing with and against each other in their journey to becoming champions. 

The All Africa Championships is meant to crown the best players and teams across Africa. The tournament was held at the MTN Arena in Kampala, Uganda, from 21 to 28 October with 11 countries participating. Its first edition was held in Mauritius in 1992. 

The pair managed to reach the Quarter Finals in Mixed Doubles before going out in 3 rounds against Adham Hatem Elgamal and Doha Hany (17-21, 21-14, 21-14).

In the Women’s Single, Vilina’s journey ended up in Round 16 while in the Men’s Single, Melvin fought hard but lost in Round 64.
