When I look at this aerial photograph, it makes me want to buy a house in Mauritius at Casa Alegria, immediately. We talk about a home here providing a safe haven at the sea – notice how the land looks crescent-shaped, so the development appears to be hugging the bright-white shoreline.
There is so much to love about this sparkling blue gem near Pereybere Beach on the Mauritius north coast. Going back to the crescent- or horseshoe-shaped theory, buying a home here could be your lucky charm. Centuries ago, a horseshoe was seen to be lucky because blacksmithing was considered a lucky trade. Also, its iron makeup appeared to be magical because it could withstand fire.
According to the BBC, psychologists say that it’s useful to believe in luck because it helps you cope better with circumstances beyond your control. How pertinent is that in the middle of a global pandemic… But if the theory is a bit too airy-fairy for you, understanding the power of the Casa Alegria architects’ colour choices might make more sense.
Outdoors at Casa Alegria by 2Futures, the no. 1 developer in Mauritius, everywhere you look is blue. It’s only natural because that is the colour of both sea and sky. On a day when the sun is less bright, the interior designers have made sure to use mood-boosting hues featuring flashes of blue. Clearly taking inspiration from the world-famous shades of the turquoise ocean just a few steps away, they selected shell-like shapes for the blue shower tiles and created a feature wall.
They’ve done something similar with a splashback focal point on the open-plan kitchen wall, and introduced it as an accent colour in the bedrooms. Against a neutral background, the blues work their own kind of magic by exuding a sense of tranquillity and calm. The colour is often associated with stability, and also represents trust, loyalty, intelligence, confidence and faith, among others.
Above all, Casa Alegria has everything it takes to seduce a prospective homeowner who appreciates the finer things in life. The ultimate benefit, of course, is having direct access to one of the best beaches in Mauritius. Just think what that can do for mind, body and soul…
The villas and apartments at Casa Alegria showcase modern architecture, which accentuates the size of the large living room and bedrooms. The oak finishes provide a warm glow. As for the kitchen, which leads into the living room, you’ll be inclined to indulge your inner chef when you’re surrounded by this collection of high-end household appliances.
Of course, through every expansive window there is also a magnificent view of the sea. The penthouses have their own rooftop terrace with private swimming pool.
Pereybere is one of the coastal villages in the north, perfectly placed just outside the main tourist attraction of Grand Baie. That means roads are quieter and it’s arguably quainter. It is developing, albeit slowly, while managing to retain an unforgettable old-world charm. That’s thanks to the older buildings you can see from the coastal road referencing the island heritage.
Small restaurants and interesting bars pop up to meet demand from locals and tourists alike. There are plenty of activities for Casa Alegria residents at the exclusive-access 2Beach Club. If you need a change of scenery without travelling too far, Grand Baie is a few minutes away. Here you’ll find plenty of retail and culinary attractions, a fitness centre and water sports. Medical centres and private schools are also located here.
