Moving to Mauritius? Choose Mont Choisy—it's more than a beach

The Mont Choisy Beach area has emerged as a hotspot for foreign nationals in recent years. In one local project, Mont Choisy Le Parc, homebuyers from overseas now have the keys to its 212 residential units.

Several real estate projects are also either in the pipeline or under construction at this northern side of Mauritius. The developer of Mont Choisy Le Parc, 2 Futures, alone has two projects underway. These are Les Residences de Mont Choisy and Le Domaine de Grand Baie.

The sandy beach of Mont Choisy surely is the top draw to living in this area, but there’s more. The lifestyle here also revolves around Mont Choisy Le Golf, developed alongside local residential projects like those of 2Futures.

Horse riding and nature trips

Besides golf and beach activities, the residents of Mont Choisy enjoy next-door access to the private park, Horse Riding Delights. This park spreads over 650 acres, and its traditional Mauritian house and garden immediately deliver a splendid impression to visitors.

The highlight of a visit to this park though is an hour-and-a-half equestrian ride. Professional instructors supervise horse riders as they take on a trail providing natural views and glimpses of Mauritius’s history.

Amongst the points of interest along the way are some charming remnants of a traditional Mauritian sugar factory. In addition to farm animals, deer and centenarian tortoises also keep the horse riders company along the nature trail.

Shopping and wellness in the mix

The new residences in Mont Choisy have created traction enough to bring plenty of commercial establishments in the area. And one of these, Mont Choisy Le Mall, has become a thriving destination for shoppers. For besides shops, it also features restaurants offering Italian, Indian, and Turkish cuisine.

Notably, this mall directly adjoins to its west a 2Futures project, Le Domaine de Grand Baie. Turn northeast of Mont Choisy Le Mall, and the focus shifts to the fully equipped Ennoia Sports & Fitness Club. A 25-meter pool, four tennis courts, three fitness studios, a gym, a sauna, and a café/bar are amongst its facilities.

Drive north via Grand Baie Road from here, and in just about a mile, more lifestyle hubs await. The picks can start from the traditional local shops and then wind up in modern shopping centres of Grand Baie village. Stay past sunset, and then take in the vibes of Grand Baie’s nightlife which has also seeped into the lifestyle in Mont Choisy.
