Grand Baie is a travel and tourism hotspot that has also emerged as one of the most potent destinations for foreigners who are looking for villas for sale in Mauritius. This village is easily a winner amongst tourists and homebuyers alike because of its splendid coastal location on the northern side of Mauritius.
A former fishing village, Grand Baie rose to fame starting in the 1960s when beach hotels began rising in its bayfront area. This village is notably home to three popular Mauritian beaches: the Grand Baie Public Beach, La Cuvette Beach, and Pereybere Beach.
The Grand Baie Public Beach is located on the central part of Grand Baie’s coastline. It is a domain for boaters, although it also features a small area where swimmers can access the water.
Onwards north, locals and visitors have a more secluded and quieter option on La Cuvette beach. The waters here are clear and calm, and beachcombers can enjoy a leisurely walk along the white-sand shoreline.
Northeast from La Cuvette, the coastal delight shifts to the white sands and turquoise sea of Pereybere Beach that serves as a perfect setting for a wide variety of water sports. This beach and its green canopies of casuarina trees likewise provide a strong come-on to buy a home, particularly in the nearby real estate developments of 2Futures—Serenity Villas and Ki Residences.
Visits to this northern side of Mauritius also opens access to the 2Beach Club, another luxury development of 2Futures. With the shimmering Pereybere Beach as its backdrop, the club provides a range of amenities, such as a seafood restaurant, a spa, and watersports facilities.
Local commercial establishments make living in Grand Baie quite convenient. These include the La Croisette Shopping Mall, one of Mauritius’s largest with its over 110 retail shops and food outlets.
An alternative near the beach, the Grand Baie Coeur de Ville is anchored on the Super U hypermarket. It also offers choices on more than 70 shops providing local produce as well as products from prominent global brands. A casino, an arcade, and a bowling alley are also housed here.
Bargain-hunters can get their fix at the Grand Baie Bazaar, a hub of local merchants selling a wide array of items including textiles, handicrafts, and jewellery. Turn to Grand Baie’s Sunset Boulevard for more choices on international labels. Revered as the oldest shopping centre in Mauritius, Sunset Boulevard is home to 50 high-end boutiques carrying chic fashion items and accessories. The boulevard also features cafes and cosy restaurants set in one of Grand Baie’s most scenic locales that could further firm up plans to buy a home in Mauritius.
