At the height of the coronavirus pandemic in Mauritius, luxury property developer 2Futures contributed MUR7,8 million to the government’s COVID-19 Solidarity Fund and organised the distribution of 300 food packs to people in distress.

Acutely aware of the need to provide support to the most affected people, 2Futures was able to draw funds from its Property Development Scheme (PDS) projects. Out of each PDS built by 2Futures, MUR200,000 is set aside to help the community or support a social project in the region.

“Helping vulnerable people is essential, especially during times of crisis such as the one we are currently experiencing,” says senior executive Junaid Salehmohamed.

For this reason, 2Futures organised a food aid campaign in April 2020 and distributed 300 food packs to residents in the villages of Pamplemousses, Triolet, Grand Baie, Melville, Grand Gaube, Poudre d’Or, Piton and Rivière du Rempart.

Distribution was carried out by Ministers Soodesh Satkam Callichurn, Avinash Teeluck, Kalpana Devi Koonjoo and PPS Anjiv Ramdhany. The packs contained basic foodstuffs such as rice, pasta, milk, flour, oil and tinned food.
