Getting in the groove with party-goers in Mauritius after sundown would typically drift to the north of the island. The 5-star resorts in this area would often have their onsite bars, but even their guests still often opt venture out.
Indeed, why not? There’s so much to experience in the music lounges and clubs on the north of Mauritius. The drinks to enjoy can include samplings of cocktails enlivened with Mauritian rum. Then there are the live performers that may include talents dishing out the sega, a soulful Mauritian song-and-dance routine.
Here are some of the bars and music lounges in Grand Baie where night owls could expect to have their fill.
This club should have a special heart for residents of the Ki Resort development of 2Futures, as it’s within their Pereybere neighbourhood. No Stress by Julie’s Club is located on Royal Road just east of the Pereybere Beach. It features live music, karaoke, and DJs as well as a restaurant and sports bar. This club also holds special events like the Oktoberfest, a German beer festival that has become popular too.
Another must-visit in Pereybere, RedCat is set in a vintage 1950s beach house intended originally to sell tea and cakes. It later had a makeover to bring in a lounge bar and restaurant, thus drawing a much broader clientele. Its terrace overlooks the ocean where customers can partake of a great variety of liquor and cocktails. Its restaurant’s menu offers seafood, Chinese and Japanese cuisines, all at very reasonable prices. The picturesque and laid-back RedCat Beach Lounge is the right place to enjoy a few drinks while watching live sports coverages. It likewise hosts live musical performances, sega shows, and beach parties.
Located along Coastal Road in Grand Baie, this club has dramatically grown from its start as a small boutique bar in 1994. Witness to this growth, a tree now towers as a flamboyant centrepiece to the club’s bar. This is where it’s quite enchanting to sample the local beer brews, Phoenix or Blue Marlin. Toasts on international cocktails should spice up an evening too at Banana Beach Club. A few flights upstairs, the scene shifts to the Kamikaze Night Club, its DJs and dance floors, plus a rooftop Sky Bar. The club’s music shifts nightly from jazz and blues to rock and fusion.
Also located along Coastal Road in Grand Baie, Le Bar & Vous is noted for its themed evenings, DJs, and live bands. This is also the place to watch broadcasts of major sports events. The early birds of this club get a treat on its specials like the “Happy Hour” offering 50 per cent discount on drinks.
There sure is more pulsating island delights beyond these clubs andresorts. Real estate developments on the north of Mauritius by themselves provide equally delightful amenities. Contact 2Futures for a full appreciation of everything that Mauritius has to offer.
